About Abuse

Abuse is a run and gun arcade game created by Crack dot Com and published by EA in North America and Origin Systems in Europe. It was released in early 1996 for MS-DOS. In 1997 a Mac OS port of the game was published by Bungie. The game's source code, plus part of the shareware content, has been in the public domain since the late 90's. It has also been ported to Linux and numerous additional platforms.

Nick Vrenna, has been unjustly imprisoned, in a place where the staff are conducting unethical medical experiments, namely on the inmates. A prison riot ensues and an one of the said experiments goes horrendously wrong.

Everybody inside the prison, except for Nick (who appears to be immune) is infected with a substance called Abuse, which transforms them into monsters. Due to this outbreak, the water supply in danger of becoming infected. Vrenna fights through the monsters to stop this, and then aims to escape from the prison building.

How to Play

Abuse is a side scrolling platform type game. Use your keyboard to move Vrenna. The mouse is used for aiming his weapons. The gameplay consists of engaging the various enemies and solving some simple puzzles.

Networked play is supported, through IPX/SPX.
