About Arkanoid
Arkanoid is a classic arcade game from 1986 by Taito.
The game received positive reviews from critics for its simplicity, addictive nature, gameplay and for the improvements over the original game Breakout. The game revitalized the genre and set the groundwork for many games to follow.
In following years, Arkanoid was ported to many home video game platforms, including the Commodore 64, Nintendo Entertainment System, ZX Spectrum, and mobile phones, and it spawned a long series of sequels and updates over the course of two decades.
How to Play
Its like bat and ball (Pong) only its a one player game and you have to hit the bricks to make them disappear. Once all the bricks are gone you have completed the level, and you move on to the next. There are various 'power ups' you can collect on the way, from an enlarged bat to lasers to extra lives. Additionally, watch out for the deadly enemy crafts.
On the final stage (33 or 36 on the NES), the player takes on the games boss, called "DOH". Once the player has reached this point, they no longer have the option to continue if they run out of lives. This makes completing Arkanoid that bit more troublesome and difficult. The game is completed or ends in failure accordingly.
