About Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia is a video game franchise created by Jordan Mechner and first released in 1989. Originally developed and published by Brøderbund, then the Learning Company, and now currently Ubisoft.
The Sultan of Persia is away at war in a far away land. While there the Grand Vizier Jaffar starts a coup d'état. His way to power lies through the Sultan's beautiful daughter. Jaffar kidnaps and threatens to murder her, if she refuses to be his wife. Meanwhile, the man the Princess is in love with, is taken and thrown into the dungeons. He has only 60 minutes to escape, defeat the guards that stand in his way, and stop Jaffar from marrying the princess.
How to Play
Prince of Persia is a 2D platform game. It has pretty complex levels, with emphasis on the protagonist's vulnerability and survival.
The Prince must avoid deadly traps, solve simple puzzles and engage with guards in sword fights. The Prince has infinite lives, but must restart at the very beginning of a level each time that he dies. He must also complete the game within the 60 minutes. The Prince begins with three units of health. These can be replenished with the small health potions found or increased permanently with the big jars.
The SNES and Game Boy Color versions of Prince of Persia have more levels and new enemies. The Sega Genesis version has a new introduction, different set of graphics and four brand new levels.
